Head of School Welcome:-

On behalf of the children, staff and governors at Victoria Road Primary School, I would like to offer you a very warm welcome.

At Victoria Road, we all share the common goal to provide our children with the best education possible, in an enjoyable and safe environment. Our school motto to NURTURE, INSPIRE and ACCOMPLISH weaves through all of the work that we do daily to enrich the lives of our Victoria Road Family.

All staff at Victoria Road are highly valued and recognised for the hard work and passion they each dedicate to the children in their care.  A successful school would not run without a great team, which I am pleased to say Victoria Road has got in place.  I recognise the importance of working alongside the staff, inviting their opinions and ideas and supporting their wellbeing.

We value our parents, carers and the local community and feel that a strong, effective partnership with them is an essential ingredient for our school.  We welcome visits to the school and would love to build up a community group, that meet regularly and support a shared vision to achieve the best child centred school experience possible.

I joined Victoria Road as Head of School in January 2023, following over 20 years teaching and leading experience in Primary School education.  As a Mum myself to a teenage daughter, I am very family orientated and understand how precious children are.  I will always put your child's education and wellbeing first and continue to offer them a safe place to thrive and be nurtured at Victoria Road Primary School.  My previous leadership role has included being the trained Senior Mental Health Lead which enabled me to successfully lead the Pastoral Team and support children who may experience barriers to their learning. I am currently studying for my NPQH (The National Professional Qualification for Headship) which is a DfE accredited qualification that will support my confidence in leading the strategic development of the school.

From January 2023, we were also very privileged to have the guidance from Mrs Kathy Nichol, who is an Executive Head from "Aspire Educational Trust".  She has worked in schools in London, Singapore and Cheshire and has been a headteacher for more than 12 years.  She too is a Mum of 2 girls at High School and shares the school's vision to continue to put the children at the centre of everything we do.  She will be working at Victoria Road up to 3 days a week, using her experience to support our school through the transition period of a change in headteacher.

Here at Victoria Road, we are proud of our ‘Amazing Achievers' who are celebrated in our weekly Friday assemblies at 2.45pm.  We also encourage parents and carers to attend and celebrate with us. The children can achieve this award though all areas of the curriculum and encouraging and following the school rules of "Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Ready".  We all try to be positive, caring, and hardworking in all that we do- every day. At the core of our work is promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in order to enable all to have the skills to self-regulate, lead successful and happy lives and make a positive contribution to society in the future. The children also receive weekly certificates for modelling positive ways to improve Mental Health and Wellbeing, setting goals and celebrating achievements.

Our underpinning ethos is to help everybody to believe in their own self-worth by fostering a respect for each other and those from other cultures and life-styles, by embracing and celebrating differences. This extends beyond the school, into the wider local and global communities.

Our children value the wide-ranging, hands-on experiential learning that helps them to develop their enquiring minds, creativity, resilience, confidence and excellent communication skills for their next stage in their learning and skills for life.

The wide-ranging curriculum (using the Cheshire West and Chester Agreed Syllabus for RE and the National Curriculum for all other subjects) inspires all learners and actively encourages investigation that feeds their thirst for knowledge. Our enhancement of the curriculum is designed to engage all our children and offers a wide range of opportunities linked to the core values of the school (Nurture, Inspire, Accomplish).

As part of Aspire Educational Trust (a research-based academy trust) and the Northwich Educational Partnership (our close community of local schools), our staff value the networking and peer-to-peer support that an extensive learning community can offer in order to provide the very best education for our children.

We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful school, you can apply to join our school using the link below. We would love to have you as part of the Victoria Road Family
