Our Year 3 children will be following Maths Mastery approach using the NCTEM small steps ideas. This enables the children to gain a really secure understanding of maths concepts and to become really confident in their maths thinking. Children use concrete objects to strengthen their understanding and use varied approaches to help their reasoning.
In Autumn Term, we will be looking at place value, number facts, and addition and subtraction
In Spring Term, we will be learning about right angles, mental calculation, column addition and subtraction as well as some of our times tables.
In Summer Term, we will be looking at fractions as well as shape and time.
Children in Year 3 should know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables by the end of the year. We practise our times tables every day using Rock Star Times Tables and BBC Supermovers to make it fun. Games are great for learning times tables. Why not try these games to help you along?
Rock Star Times Tables really helps us strengthen our times tables.
Our Spring Term rock star song is:
