S U M M E R  T E R M. How exciting :D We are looking forward to learning about Africa and how hot it is over there. As part of our topic we will be looking at things we are grateful for and choosing some old things to send to Africa. We have also been learning about African drumming and other African instruments-we have been causing a racket! yes

This last term is SUPER important as we start to connect all our learning and get ourselves ready to start year 2. In Maths we need to be able to count in 2's, 5's and 10's, count to 100, write the numbers in numbers and write numbers to 20 in words. Add and subtract numbers to 20 and know all of our number bonds to 20 too.

In Literacy we are really focusing on making sure our sentences make sense and they have capital letters, full stops and finger spaces and that all of our letters are formed correctly. Please see the sheet attached at the bottom (Year 1 Literacy) and check the 'working at' page to see what else your child needs to achieve in writing.

In science we will learn all about our plants and trees in the world around us and in summer 2 we will be learning about animals inlcuding humans where we'll have to root through some poo to find out if the animals were carnivores or herbivores. EW.

PE will be on a Wednesday and a Thursday still.

Our family learning and celebration assembly is on Tuesday 7th May.

As usual, my door is always open so please feel free to come and speak to me whenever you need-see you around school! smiley
