School Curriculum 2019 - 2020
Victoria Road Primary follows the New National Curriculum and the Cheshire West and Chester Agreed Syllabus for RE. We aim to ensure that our children have access to a balanced and broad curriculum and we plan in opportunities for year groups and key stages to work together. This is a fantastic way for staff and children to collaborate in our learning.
The staff at VRPS have developed an exciting, broad and balanced curriculum that will encourage and develop independent, creative and resilient life-long learners. We aim to create well-balanced individuals who have had experienced a wide range of opportunities and possibilities before they leave us in Year 6.
With our key curriculum drivers of Global Community, Health & Wellbeing & Possibilities, the curriculum equips our children for life today and in the future. We support them in building key skills so they become lifelong learners and can make a positive contribution to society in the future.
CURRICULUM- STATEMENT OF INTENT
At Victoria Road Primary, we have designed a curriculum that challenges and inspires our children to want to know more about their world both past and present. At the core of our work is promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in order to ensure that our children have the skills to help them to lead successful and happy lives in the future.
Our underpinning ethos is to help our children to believe in their own self-worth, through their respect for each other and those from other cultures. This extends beyond the school, into the wider local and global communities.
Our children value the hands-on experiential learning that helps them to develop their enquiring minds, resilience, confidence and excellent communication skills. Skills for life.
The wide ranging curriculum inspires all learners and actively encourages investigation that feeds their thirst for knowledge. Our enhancement of the curriculum is designed to engage all our children and offers a wide range of opportunities linked to the core values of the school (Nurture, Inspire, Accomplish).
As part of ASPIRE- a research based academy trust- our staff value the networking and peer-to-peer support that a learning community can offer in order to provide the very best education for our children.
